The Poon Hill – Ghorepani – Ghandruk Trek is located in the Annapurna region of central Nepal, inside the protected Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA). The trek begins from Nayapul or Ulleri, about a 1.5–2 hour drive from Pokhara, and passes through lush hills, terraced farmlands, rhododendron forests, and traditional Gurung villages.
This trek is famous for the spectacular sunrise viewpoint at Poon Hill (3,210 m), offering panoramic views of Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli. The trail also visits Ghorepani, a beautiful mountain village surrounded by forests, and Ghandruk, one of the largest Gurung villages known for its traditional stone houses and rich culture.
The region has well-developed teahouses, making it one of Nepal’s most comfortable short treks. Due to its moderate altitude and excellent mountain views without extreme climbing, this trek is perfect for beginners, families, and trekkers with limited time.
The Poon Hill – Ghandruk Trek is a short and scenic Himalayan trek offering breathtaking mountain panoramas, charming villages, and beautiful forest trails. It is considered one of Nepal’s best introductory treks, combining culture, nature, and stunning sunrise views without high-altitude risks.
